Robbie and I were on I-85 and got rear-ended pretty hard and my car is totaled. See picture below. No one was seriously hurt (thank God), but the echo has met its demise.
I am looking into getting a new car ASAP!
I am looking for a good daily driver with fairly low mileage.
I have around $10,000 to spend.
I've been looking at Scion tC, Honda civic, toyota corolla, mazada3. Outside options are a Jetta or Altima.
Know any negatives about these, or anyone that might be selling any for a reasonable price?
**Keep in mind this is my daily driver. I WILL NOT be autocrossing it or modifying it. I want a safe car that is reliable. Other options can be given, but nothing about race-type cars, please.
Thanks. _________________ 2009-2010 PR

My neck and shoulder hurt. quite a bit, might have to go to the docs tomorrow....and I said no one got SERIOUSLY injured, like being hospitalized for serious injuries. _________________ 2009-2010 PR
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, not the Echo! *sigh* Please for the love of God don't get a tC, they make me sad. Go snag a Corolla XRS (2zz-ge 6-Speed) or see if you can get a used Mazdaspeed 3. If you're going to go with a Civic I'd go snag a swapped hatch and just roll with it (B16 or 18 ). _________________

I know, I'm talking about whoever was driving the Pacific and/or F-150, whichever one caused it. _________________ "Double Fisted Dick"

Really sorry that happened... looks like you made good choices already.
For dependability and safety, I'd test drive a Honda Civic. My 84 year old aunt got hit directly in the driver's door by a car doing 45 mph. She climbed out of the passenger side and walked away from the car...later found she had a cracked pelvis but still amazing to look inside that car and how the safety features kept her alive, Well constructed. For dependability, Honda is hard to beat. I had a Honda stationwagon we drove to 240,000 miles because my wife said we were going to "drive it til it dropped" to make sure we got our money out of it. I swear, if I had drained the oil, it would have gone another 20,000 just to spite me. It would not die. It was still running fine when we finally traded it in. Change the oil and watch the tires..and just drive.
If you are leaning the Mazda direction, I would be glad to put you in touch with John Finger at John Finger Mazda in Greenville to see what he has. He is a good friend and along with new car sales, he has a lot of trade ins and repos. I am sure he would do you right.
Glad you are okay. Metal and plastic and rubber is replaceable... not people.
You too, Rob. _________________ Ted E. Bayer

Those corollas are pretty quick surprisingly. But I doubt you can get one for under $10k and I'm sure its more "race-car" than shes looking for _________________ Club Secretary (2009-2010)
