With the (huge) help of my friend Nick, we did a little modification to the wheels on my Protege. What started out as a comment made in jest ended with a trip to the auto parts store and a pretty decent end result.
I was a little skeptical before the project, but I'm very satisfied with how it came out.
I also bought some engine bay cleaner and gave everything under the hood a thorough cleansing, which really improved the look down there.
Anyway on to the pics...

I swear Chase, pics don't do it justice. I suck with cameras, even little point-n-shoots, but I think it looks good in person. _________________ "Here we are. We're back and we never give up." -Michael Schumacher, 7 time Formula 1 World Champion

Red pin striping stuff we found at Advance. Why, are you thinking ye olde Vette needs a little update? _________________ "Here we are. We're back and we never give up." -Michael Schumacher, 7 time Formula 1 World Champion

Dude, I totally forgot to tell you. The Z is back kicking ass again! I was having serious throttle problems, but Chris and I figured out it was the MAF sensor, and as luck would have it, he had one laying around so the car is as good as the day I got it back from FP! _________________ "Here we are. What size engine does yours have? My brother has a 5spd '97 protege with the 1.5L and it sounds pretty mean without the axle-back on. And yes I know this cause I took it off for shits and giggles . I also painted his calipers red the other day. Looks pretty good surprisingly. _________________ Club Secretary (2009-2010)

Mine is a '99 with the 1.6L. When I first got the car, I drove it around without the air filter on for a couple of days because it sounded beefier.
If you're trying to ball on a budget, its tough to add things to a car, but you can always take stuff off, lol. _________________ "Here we are. We're back and we never give up." -Michael Schumacher, 7 time Formula 1 World Champion
Should sound about the same then if its only 0.1 liters more displacement. I'll upload the video I took of it so you can hear. And yep it is much easier to take stuff off than pay for new things . I wish my car's OEM exhaust wasn't one single piece so I didn't have to buy an aftermaket exhaust just for some more noise. _________________ Club Secretary (2009-2010)
