it appears that there is still some interest in heading down to the whare shoals drag strip. so far, the days suggested are this friday, the 4th, or next friday, the 11th.

any preferences or ideas?

we'll just have to wait and see who wants to go where. each track has it's own pros and cons.

whare shoals:
-cheaper
-closer
-more runs

commerce:
-longer track
-probably better equipment
-better cars to oggle

Any chance of another trip before the next autocross event?

We could possibly cook something up. Smile

I need to get a couple mounts polyurethanized (they should be arriving soon) so that I finally have those transmission movements reduced and I can actually shift instead of missing gears literally every other pass. I'd like to organize something up though; last time at Commerce was awesome.

Someone who is a little less busy, look up the Fast Friday's on the Commerce website. Very Happy The cool air will be a huge help, hopefully I'll be able to be a little faster than 15.800 lol.

I need to do some convincing... I want to go.

But, I also really need money for tires.

Its only $20, max. That shouldn't put a dent in tire funds Smile

Ryan, Cody (GTfan712) is 17, and his parents for some reason will let him autocross the hell out his car, but won't let him drag race. Personally I think autocrossing is far more abusive to his car/tires/suspension than drag racing would be to his engine and transmission, but yeah, he needs to find a way to convince his parents that the drag strip really isn't that bad... because honestly, it isn't, at least for his car.

Either that, or he needs to do it without his parents finding out. Shocked

Ah ok makes sense. So I'm guessing his tire comment was based on the fact his parents won't pay for his tires if he drag races the car.

He's got a set of 18 inch Mugens on the way (got a killer deal for them), he's looking for tires to fit with them. His parents just think that drag racing is unsafe and that he'd completely lose control and crash into a wall or something lol. He has to pay for insurance for his car (considering he's only 17, its quite horrible), but it isn't as bad as having to pay for a brand new car himself. (He lives in Matt Joos's neighborhood, btw)

But yeah, basically its a matter of convincing his parents that drag racing his car is safe, I think. I say we invite his parents out to the drag strip/autox. My parents have come to wayy too many of our autocrosses lol.

Atlanta Dragway is less than 10 miles farther away and a much easier drive.
It takes longer to get to Ware Shoals Dragway.

Four or five test & tunes left for the year.

October 9 - says for ORSCA Outlaw 10.5 Series - might not be able to race, but if you can, there will probably be a light crowd.

Definitely open for:
October 16, 23, 30
November 6

I just called, no go for this Friday.

Oct. 16th I'll be pounding back beer at the Walhalla Oktoberfest, how about the 23?
